It is in New Haven County, on New Haven Harbor, on the northern coast of Long Island Sound. You can see, they have swans in the sea-water of New Haven Harbor.
As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 123,626. New Haven is generally considered to be halfway between the greater New York metropolitan area and the greater New England area.
